How RFID Works

A basic RFID system consist of three components that include, an antenna or coil, a decoder or reader (transceiver), and a tag (transponder) electronically programmed with unique information.  To initiate the communication of information, the antenna emits radio signals which activate the tag.  This allows data to be written to and read from the tag.  The antenna acts as a conduit between the tag and the transceiver, which controls the system’s data acquisition and communication.  The antenna emits radio signals to activate the tag and read and write data to it.
